In today’s fast-paced world, nutrition is often contradictory and oversimplified, leaving many people confused about what to eat or how to lose weight effectively. Nutrition is not one-size-fits-all; there are multiple paths to achieving results, and the best approach is the one that fits your lifestyle and taste.
Our coaching begins with a thorough assessment of your current eating habits, lifestyle, age and gender, goals, personal limits and preferences, and more. We consider everything from your schedule, budget, and access to kitchen tools, to any cultural or personal food choices. This allows us to create a plan that is realistic, enjoyable, and designed to fit seamlessly into your life. From there, we focus on learning two essential areas: the fundamentals of nutrition, including micro and macronutrients, and the process of choosing a diet that works for you. We educate our clients about the advantages and disadvantages of different approaches so they can make informed decisions. For example,
- a ketogenic diet can promote rapid fat loss but may feel restrictive and challenging to sustain long-term, as well as potentially create health issues;
- an omnivore diet with balanced portions can support flexibility and social eating but may require more discipline and attention to nutrient timing;
- “healthy junk food” approaches can allow indulgence while controlling calories, but it may be harder to feel satiated and control portions;
- intermittent fasting can be convenient for some, yet may not be suitable for everyone due to energy fluctuations or lifestyle constraints.
The key is that there is no wrong choice, only preferences, and our guidance helps you find what works best for you.
We also emphasize the importance of understanding not just what you eat, but why you eat (physical needs, signals, etc.) and overeat (if applicable). By exploring patterns, habits, and emotional triggers, we incorporate behavioral coaching techniques based on recognized approaches, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). These exercises help clients build a healthier relationship with food, reduce stress around eating, and develop confidence in their choices. Healing your relationship with food is crucial for sustainable results and achieving a mind that is not making you stress about food 24/7.
